Designer’s Profile

I am Qareena Haseeb, a designer who graduated from Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design, Lahore, in 2022 with a major in ceramics and glass. Alongside setting up Earthen Palette, I currently practice as a design instructor and researcher. Clay has always been my preferred medium to work with, allowing me to merge craftsmanship with my deep connection to nature. Seeing through nature’s eye, I create pieces that either reflect organic form, texture or colours.

Threads of Nature

My work depicts the concept, ‘Nature is Mother’, where I link nature with textiles in order to showcase that every manmade object’s foundation is nature. My inspiration comes from textile techniques including weaving, knitting, embroidery and crochet, linked with the plants from which fibers are extracted. The blend between textiles and plants highlights the core concept of this project. Textures and forms
derived from inspiration are replicated onto the tiles with a balanced and visually appealing composition. A vintage colour palette reinforces nature’s timeless role in craftsmanship, using earthy tones to reflect raw, organic connections between plants and textiles. Along with the textural study and replication, glazes are equally playing a strong role in complimenting the work. This idea is executed onto wall diptychs to not just portray a connection but also uplift an interior space with thoughtfulness and warmth.
